Praeludium
For the 2000-2001 McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band, Skokie, Illinois
Dietrich Buxtehude (1637-1707) is primarily known as the organ virtuoso that J. S. Bach once walked more than 200 miles to hear perform. Bach admired Buxtehude and was heavily influenced by his works. Praeludium, BuxWV 143 (originally in E minor) is one of several organ preludes Buxtehude composed.
Praeludium was premiered, with the arranger conducting, on May 25, 2001 by the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band, Skokie, Illinois.
