McCracken Symphonic Band Honored by House of Representatives Again!

On May 9, the Illinois House of Representatives adopted a resolution filed by Rep. Louis Lang congratulating the Symphonic Band for receiving the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Cup.

HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the McCracken Middle School Band from Skokie on receiving the Sudler Silver Cup award for 2006 from the John Philip Sousa Foundation; and

WHEREAS, The McCracken Middle School Band was the only middle school band selected from the United States and Canada to receive this honor; and

WHEREAS, The Band will receive their award on May 14, 2007 at a concert performance at Niles North High School in Skokie; and

WHEREAS, The Sudler Silver Cup is sponsored by the John Philip Sousa Foundation and is awarded to middle school concert bands which have demonstrated extremely high standards of musical excellence at the international level over a period of several years and whose director has established and maintained a complete musical program in his or her school over a period of more than seven years; and

WHEREAS, The faculty, staff, parents, and community can be proud of this great achievement by the McCracken Middle School Band; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the McCracken Middle School Band from Skokie on receiving the Sudler Silver Cup award for 2006 from the John Philip Sousa Foundation and wish them all continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the McCracken Middle School Band and Chip De Stefano, Conductor, as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
