In Memoriam: Peter Pappas
Pete Pappas built one of Illinois’ most legendary middle school band programs at Kelvin Grove Middle School in Lockport…setting the standard for middle school bands for years followin…performing at several national conferences, playing incredibly difficult repertoire. Following his time at Kelvin Grove, he became Director of Bands at Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, Illinois.
Mr. Pappas was in the McCracken Middle School band room a lot before he and his wife Margene moved to Arizona soon after her retirement. He was a tremendous friend to the McCracken Middle School Bands and an ardent supporter of our program. I’m very grateful to count him among my mentors and am very grateful for the time he spent with us during those early years.
