Village Board Proclamation

WHEREAS, under the direction of Chip De Stefano, McCracken Middle School, once again, has proven to provide an exemplary curriculum in music; and

WHEREAS, the McCracken Middle School Band has brought great credit on its school and Village through the numerous honors it has received over the years; and

WHEREAS, the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mr. Chip De Stefano, has been selected as “Honor Band” at the 2011 University of Illinois Superstate Concert Band Festival; and

WHEREAS, this is the fourth time, (2000, 2003, 2006, 2011), that the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band has received this special distinction; and

WHEREAS, the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band was selected by taped audition as one of eleven middle school bands invited to participate in the 2011 University of Illinois Superstate Concert Band Festival.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE VAN DUSEN, Mayor of the Village of Skokie do hereby proclaim June 6, 2011, as

“McCRACKEN MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND DAY”

and congratulate the McCracken Middle School Band members for their continued successful performances, as they represent their school, the Village of Skokie, and all of its citizens. These young people exemplify the spirit of our community.
