Beginner Recruitment in Full Swing!
Last week marked the start of beginner recruitment for the MIddleton Elementary School 4th graders. All the 4th graders were introduced to our band program through an in-class presentation in their general music class. This week we have a couple exciting events planned:
-
- On Wednesday, September 30, 8:45a the McCracken Symphonic Band will be performing at Middleton for the 4th grade classes. Symphonic Band students will also demonstrate the various instruments of the band. The Symphonic Band has been working very hard towards this performance the past 4 weeks and are excited for this first performance of the year.
- On Thursday, October 1 (in the morning) we will have our instrument fittings. All current 4th graders will have the opportunity to try their two favorite instruments. Thanks to Evanston Band and Orchestra and Music and Arts Centers for supporting the instrument fitting.
At the instrument fitting, students will receive a registration form to sign-up for band and select their desired instrument. On Wednesday, October 7, 7:00p in the Middleton gymnasium, our Parent Orientation for beginner band will take place. At this important meeting, parents will have an opportunity to hear about our band program, become familiar with the schedule and expectations, and ask questions of Mr. De Stefano and Mr. Morrison. Representatives of both Music and Arts Centers and Evanston Band and Orchestra will be present for parents to rent instruments and purchase needed supplies (method book, music stand).
