Welcome David Morrison

This past Tuesday, the Board of Education approved the hiring of David Morrison as part-time band director.  Mr. Morrison’s primary responsibilities will be covering the majority of beginner lessons and co-teaching large ensemble rehearsals…although I envision all our students benefiting from his experience and expertise.

We are very fortunate to have Mr. Morrison join us.  He retired in 2006 after 33 years of teaching, including 29 years as Directors of Bands at Prospect High School.  Mr. Morrison was the Illinois Teacher of the Year in 2003-2004 and was inducted into the Illinois Bandmasters Hall of Fame in 2005.  Most recently he was awarded the 2007 John Paynter Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to music education.  Mr. Morrison’s bands at Prospect High School were among the most respected in the state, receiving 15 invitations to the University of Illinois Superstate Concert Band Festival (two selections as honor band).  Under his direction, the Prospect Marching Band was named Grand Champion of the University of Illinois Marching Band Festival 23 consecutive years.

Mr. Morrison’s biography can be found on the Our Directors page.
