McCracken Middle School Band Day in Skokie!

WHEREAS, under the direction of Chip De Stefano, McCracken Middle School hasproven to provide an exemplary curriculum in music; and

WHEREAS, the McCracken Middle School Band has brought great credit on their school and Village through the numerous honors they have received over the years; and

WHEREAS, the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mr. Chip De Stefano, was selected to paricipate in the prestigious University of Illinois Superstate Band Festival, marking the 7th time in the last 8 years that the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band has been invited to perform, and received the title of honor band for the 3rd time, guaranteeing an invitation bafk the following year, without having to submit an audition tape; and

WHEREAS, these young musicians deserve our support and we ask our community to help support their efforts as they prepare to participate in the 2006 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, which will be held in Chicago, December 19-23, 2006 – an international band and orchestra conference, attended by over 15,000 music professionals and students.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE VAN DUSEN, Mayor of the Village of Skokie do hereby proclaim December 4, 2006, as

McCRACKEN MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND DAY

and congratulate the McCracken Middle School Band members for their continued successful performances, as they represent their school, the Village of Skokie, and all of its citizens. These young people exemplify the spirit of our community.
