Board of Education Resolution

RESOLUTION FOR THE McCRACKEN MIDDLE SCHOOL SYMPHONIC BAND

WHEREAS Skokie School District 73.5 has a tradition of musical excellence that extends more than 30 years, and

WHEREAS the members of the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band diligently practiced and accepted the challenge to learn pieces of music of ever-increasing complexity, and

WHEREAS the members of the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band practiced with their Director, Mr. Chip De Stefano, all year, four mornings a week at 7:30 AM and every Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 PM, and

WHEREAS the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band produced an audition tape that was accepted, and

WHEREAS the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band was one of only six middle school bands in the State of Illinois invited to participate in the Superstate Band Contest Festival held at the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois on May 9, 2003, and

WHEREAS the performance was held at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts to a filled auditorium which
included more than 80 McCracken family members, and

WHEREAS the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band and their Director, Mr. Chip De Stefano performed
superbly, inspiring all competitors, and

WHEREAS the judges selected the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band as this year’s Contest Winner, and

WHEREAS the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band received the same high honor and recognition on May 5, 2000, and so

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Skokie School District 73.5 Board of Education does hereby congratulate the
members of the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band, their Director, Mr. Chip De Stefano, and the parents and
families who have helped make the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band the best school band in the State of
Illinois!

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that suitable copies of this Resolution be given to the members of the McCracken Middle School Symphonic Band and their Director, Mr. Chip De Stefano, as testimony to the hard work and dedication everyone put forth to make this Band the best in the State of Illinois.

Approved and adopted this 13th day of May, 2003.
